We Now Build Custom Drone & AI Security Systems
Barney Global is expanding into autonomous security. Introducing Barney Security — custom-built drones, ground robots, and AI camera systems designed to protect your property around the clock.
Why Security?
We've always built software for hardware — drone flight controllers, embedded systems, robotics code, computer vision. At some point, we asked ourselves: why aren't we using this to solve a real problem?
Home and business security is a real problem. A $60 billion industry that still mostly relies on the same technology it used 20 years ago: cameras that record footage, motion sensors that trigger false alarms, and monitoring centers staffed by people watching hundreds of screens at once.
The footage gets reviewed after a break-in. The alarm goes off after someone's already inside. The police show up after the thief is gone. It's all reactive. We wanted to build something proactive — something that sees a threat, identifies it, and responds in seconds, without waiting for a human to notice.
What We Actually Build
Barney Security builds complete autonomous security systems from scratch. Not off-the-shelf kits with our logo on them. Every drone frame, every sensor configuration, every line of flight code, every AI model — designed and built in-house.
Autonomous Patrol Drones
Our drones are custom-built on carbon fiber frames, weighing under 250 grams (which means no FAA registration required). They carry dual 4K cameras — one forward-facing and one downward — plus a FLIR thermal imaging module that sees heat signatures in complete darkness.
Here's what makes them different from a DJI you'd buy at Best Buy: they're fully autonomous. You set patrol routes on a satellite map through the app. The drone launches on schedule or when a sensor detects activity, flies the route, scans the area with AI object detection, and returns to its magnetic charging dock when done. Full charge in 45 minutes. Back in the air. No human input needed.
The onboard computer runs YOLO neural networks processing 30 frames per second. It classifies everything it sees: person, vehicle, animal, package, unknown object. When it identifies a real threat — not a tree branch, not a cat, not a shadow — it sends a push notification to your phone with a screenshot, classification, confidence score, and GPS location. All within seconds of detection.
Ground Patrol Robots
Drones are great for aerial coverage, but some properties need ground-level patrol too. Covered parking structures, warehouses, long perimeter fences, indoor facilities — places where a drone can't fly effectively.
Our ground robots use LIDAR and visual SLAM to navigate autonomously through mapped patrol routes. They carry 360-degree cameras, infrared night vision, a high-intensity LED spotlight, two-way audio, and a 120dB siren. They patrol 8-12 hours on a single charge and dock themselves when battery gets low.
The two-way audio is a game-changer. See someone on your property through the robot's camera? Speak directly through it from your phone. The combination of a moving robot, blinding spotlight, and a disembodied voice is an extremely effective deterrent. Most people leave immediately.
AI-Powered Camera Networks
Fixed cameras are the backbone of any security setup. But our cameras don't just record — they think. Every feed runs through real-time AI that classifies objects, recognizes license plates, and optionally identifies faces (known vs. unknown).
The AI learns your property's normal patterns. Your car, your family, your dog, your regular delivery driver — all become part of the baseline. The system only alerts on anomalies: a vehicle it doesn't recognize, a person at 3 AM, a package that wasn't there before. This means virtually zero false alarms while catching every legitimate threat.
Every detection is logged with timestamp, video clip, classification type, and confidence score. Scroll through a searchable timeline on your phone. Tap any event to watch the clip. This isn't Ring — it's a professional-grade intelligent surveillance network.
Sensor Arrays & Counter-Surveillance
Beyond cameras and drones, we install invisible sensor networks: motion sensors, acoustic detectors (glass breaking, gunshots, engine sounds), vibration sensors, and RF scanners that detect signal jammers, unauthorized wireless devices, and WiFi deauthentication attacks.
If someone tries to jam your security system's WiFi, the system detects the jamming signal itself and triggers an alert through a backup 4G cellular connection. That level of counter-surveillance is usually reserved for military and government installations.
Why This Costs 10x Less Than Competitors
Enterprise drone security systems from companies like Sunflower Labs, Nightingale Security, and Skydio cost anywhere from $10,000 to $200,000+. Knightscope's security robots lease for $7-11 per hour. These systems are designed for corporate campuses, military bases, and industrial complexes.
We build custom. That means no $50,000 proprietary drone platform with a $5,000/month software subscription. We source individual components, build custom frames, write our own flight software, train our own AI models, and build the mobile app from scratch. The result: a complete autonomous drone security system starting at $1,500, with optional monthly monitoring from $50/month.
A homeowner can get drone patrol, AI cameras, and a mobile command app for less than 24 months of a premium Ring subscription. A small business can secure an entire property for less than one month of hiring a security guard.
100% American Built
Every component in our systems is American-sourced. This isn't just a selling point — it's a legal requirement for a growing number of customers.
The American Security Drone Act bans Chinese-manufactured drones (including DJI, the world's largest drone maker) from federal government use. States are following with their own bans. Schools, police departments, and municipalities are actively looking for American-built alternatives.
Beyond compliance, American-built means your data stays on your hardware. No foreign servers. No documented data exfiltration concerns like those that led to the DJI ban. Your video feeds, patrol data, and property information are processed locally on hardware you own.
Who This Is For
We build systems for anyone who needs more than cameras but can't justify six figures on enterprise security:
- →Homeowners and estate properties
- →Small businesses, warehouses, and retail
- →Construction sites (equipment theft costs $1 billion/year nationally)
- →Farms and ranches with large acreage
- →Churches, schools, and community facilities
- →Government buildings, parks, and infrastructure
How It Connects to What We Do
Barney Security is a division of Barney Global LLC. We've always been a software engineering and AI integration company — we build drone flight controllers, train computer vision models, develop mobile apps, and write embedded systems code. Barney Security is what happens when we point all of that capability at one specific problem.
The software engineering expertise behind our engineering services is the same expertise that flies our drones, runs our AI detection, and powers the mobile command app. We don't outsource. We don't resell. We build both sides — hardware and software — under one roof.
Get a Free Security Assessment
If you're interested in seeing what a custom security system would look like for your property, we offer free assessments — in person for Southern Utah clients, or remotely via photos and video for anyone else.
No obligation. No high-pressure sales. We evaluate your property, identify vulnerabilities, design a custom system, and give you a detailed quote with full component breakdown. If it makes sense, we build it. If not, you walk away with a free professional security analysis.
